LAWN FETE

Help For The Leper Cause The lawn fete in aid of the Leper/ Cause, organised by the Presbyterian Young Women's Friendly Club, and held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Osborne, on October 23, was well attended and generously supported. The promoters are to be eongratulated 011 the success of their eflfort. The baby show, arranged on a voting basis, created much interest and helped considerably to swell the a£ternoon's takings, with Baby Rickard scoring the largest number of votes, and Baby Arnold second. A well stoeked jumble stall was well patronised, and games and competitions went merrily. These included two games kindly arranged by the Girl Guides. Prizewinners wer'e Mesdanxes Story, Rewa, Lyons and Smith; Gilian Woodward and Peter West. A small gift was also made to each baby entered in that eompetition. Afternoon tea was served on the wide iawn at the back of the house, which provided pleasant shade to those wishing it. The Rev. W. Nicholas thanked those present for their fine support of a most worthy cause and congratulated members of the club on their initiative and excellent work. Much of the success of the function was due to its very pleasant and well prepared location, and the warm thanks of the club go therefore to Mr and Mrs Osborne for so kindly lending their home. As a result of the fete, the Mission to Lepers will benefit to the ex- i tent of £43. The local secretary for ! the Mission, Mrs E.
