BOATS AT TWO-MILE BAY

PROJECT FOR RAMP HELD UP As will be noted in the report of the monthly meeting of the Taupo Town Board there is some delay in reaching finality in regard to the concrete ramp which the AqSuatic Sports Club is prepared at its owji expense for the convenience of boatcwners at Two-Mile Bay. The area here has been handed over to the Tcwn Board as a reserve for picnic parties and motor-parking. The Board has no objection to the ramp being put on the beach but the cffieial authority for the granting of the permit is the Marine Department, The Aquatic Sports Club accepted the conditions laid down by the Internal Affairs Department for conserving the rights of the public, and was informed that on acceptance a it'commendation would go forward ot the Marine Department that the permit should be granted. In the meantime a petition signed by 18 residents of the vicinity has been lcdged protesting against the construction of the ramp, and this has held up the permit. ] Note. — On the face of it the attatude of the objectors does not ap~ pear ^ery reasonable, but if correspondents desire to express themselves on the subjeet they are welcome to space in our columns. — Editor.]
