TAUPO MARCHING GIRLS ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the Taupo GirlsJ Marching Association was held in Rickit's Hall on Sunday, September 7 th. Members including Mr J. Storey, chairman ,and the Taupo Town Board, and Mr S. Woodward, Managing Director, Huga Timbermills Ltd., and members of the teams I were present. Visitors present were Messrs McMillan, Hampton and Naggs, representatives of the Bay of Plenty Centre, Marching Girls' Association, invited to Taupo by the Chairman of the Taupo War Memorial Hall Committee, iMr W. J. Stevens, and several members of the War Memi orial Hall Committee; Businessmen's Association; Girl Guides and Boy Scouts. It was moved by Mr Stevens a#nd seconded by Colonel Barton, that a public meeting be held for the purpose of discussing the question of constituting the Marching' GiiTs Association, this meeting to be held after September 28th. As this can only be a direction to the Taupo Marching Girls, Organisation, it has been necessary, owing to heavy dooking iof Rickit^ Hall and the value of time, that the organisation should eall a public meeting for Monday, September 22nd., to be held in Riekit's Hall at 8 p.m. All parents that have girls in the teams are strongly advised to attend; also all people who are real* ^y interested in the welfare of the local teams and the organisation. A full report of progress will be given by a member* of the Executive. The Chairman of the meeting will be Mr J. Storey. The Taupo ,Girls, Marching teams have now 26 financial members, and 12 adult members of the organisation. The Secretary, Mjss R. Anchor, was instructed some time ago to write to Mr McMillan, Rotorua, inviting him to bring teams to Taupo, for the purpose of demonstrating to the people of Taupo, and to en^ourage our local teams. Mr Mcmillan has accepted the invitation, and wrill present his teams with Pipe Band on Sunday, September 28th., on Taupo Domain, commencing at 2 p.m. Refreshments for visitmg teams will be provided by the Taupo Girls' Social Committee. On October 4th., open air wrestling contests by Hawkes Bay - Poverty Bay Amateur Champions will be given on Taupo Domain grounds, to be followed by a social and dance at Rickit's Hall. Further details will be advertised in tlie "Times."
