TREATING TAUPO HYDRO POWER POLES
As the power poles being used for the reticulation of electricity from the Taupo Hydro Station at Hatepe have to be specially treated by the application of a steam process, the Town Board was placed in some difficulty until Mr J. Birnie, of the Spa Hotel, offered the use of a piece of ground on his property and a lead of steam from one of the bores re~ cently opened up in the hotel grounds for a period of 12 months, without charge. This public-spirited offer was gratefully accepted, and th© necessarv plant installed. There is now no hold-up about the poles.
