TRIBAiL CUP LOST A tribal match v/as played on: August 3'lst. at Nuhaka in Poverty Bay between Nuhaka and Tuwharetoa for the W. H. T. Grace Memorial Cup, of which the Tuwharetoa tribe had been the holders for the past three years. On a muddy field and in pouring rain Tuwharetoa lost the trophy by ten points ,two goals) to nil. The team experienced a most enjoyabie trip and were treated most hospitably by their hosts. They look forward eagerly to a return visit from Nuhaka next year. A Tuwharetoa girls hockey team also visit ed Naihaka and lost their trophy to the home tribe by 5 goals to nil. It is expected that the match next-week-end on the Taupo Domain wiH be the Champion of Champions game for the Chas. Smith Memorial Cup between the winners of the Garrett Shield (Waitahanui) and the McKay Cup winners (Maroa). Aiiother fixture to be played before the season's end will be a tribal game for the Ratana Cup, which is at uresent iheld by Mangakino but in | the meantime the latter team have to meet a challenge from (Maniapoto. Combined Mills v. Taurewa. A' friendly game on Saturday week last was played at Taurewa between members from Lake Timber, Hopkin's and 'Mangahauhau Mills " v. Taurewa. Both teams were almost evenly matched and played a good hard game. However at the final whistle the visitors were fortunate in winning by 10-8. Mr Am orangi, snr., refereed. Gombine team: — D. Mariu (captain), M. Mariu, T. Duff, S. Warren, B. Amorangi (jnr.), A. Moana, A. Derbv, Peter Hepi (vice-captam),, Paf Hepi, M. Marsh, H. Allen, R. Moana, T. Moana, J. Boyce, N. Duff, A return mat"h is scheluded to be played between the two teams at Puketi flats with the Mills as hosts this coming Saturdav.
