TAUPO BOWLING CLUB
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING At the first annual general meeting of the Taupo Bowling Club held at RickitVHall on Wednesday September 3rd. there was a fairly representative meeting. The PresidenL Mr J. D. Swan reported on the years rctivities and pointed out that very few new clubs were in such a strong financial position at the end of their first financial year. The balance sheet showed £890, fixed assets, and £316, liquid assets at the Bank of New tSouth Wales, plus a Green with eight Rinks completed and almost ready for play. fSpecial thanks were due to; — "Pop" Penny'cuik, Pop Marlow, Messrs J* , Rowlands, B. Armstron^, E. T, Smith, N. George, T. Tierney, Bregman and Silva, and the Town Board, He proposed a special vpte of thanks to Mr A. Coley for the erection of the club building at practically no cost. to the club. This was carried by acclamation. During the year the club visited Ngongotaha, Ohepe Beach and the Chateau. The present financial membership is 21. Ten new members were proposed at the meeting, and a list of 28 new members was accepted for membership, making a total of 59 all told. The rules of the club were then read and adopted. Membership fees as follows were fixed; — Full bowling member, £3 13/6; reducible to £3 3/-, if paid by November 30th.; associate bowling members, £1 11/6; honorary members, 10/6. Ladies are to be admitted to full membership. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows; — President, Mr B. Armstrong. Immediate Past President, {Mr D. iSwan. Vice-Presidents, Messrs E. T. Smith and J. Rowlands. Treasurer, Mr C. McLean. 'Secretary, Mr M. A. McKean. Green Superintendent, Mr PennyV cuik. Committee, Messrs Baldwin, McLean jnr., Peacocke, Fraser, Lees, and Howie. I Match Gommittee, Messrs Armstrong and Rowlands. Green Committee, Messrs Hutchins and Marlow. Green-keeper, Mr Pennycuik. Club Coaches, Messrs McLean snr. and Armstrong. Auditors, Messrs Prime and MoreL At; the close of the meeting, Mr C. McLean moved that the Immediate Past-President, Mr Swan, be thanked for the work he was doing for Taupo regarding the erpetion of the Memorial Hall The people df Taupo, he said, were lucky to have someone with his drive as *a resident. The meeting unanimously voted a sum of £25 to the Hall Funi. In closing the meeting the President asked all membefs to advertise the club and get intending* members to contact the Secretary, Mr M. A. McKean, Tui Street, or the Towii Board Office, Taupo (^hone 15 by day, 48M in the evening).
