A GREAT SUCCESS
FIRE BRIGADE BALL The Taupo Fire Brigade Ball drew a huge crowd to Rickit's Hall on Saturday, August 23rd. The hall was gaily decorated with streamers, greenery and colourful clusters of balloons. Music was provided by Mac Habib's Orchestra and Colonel J. D. Swan very efficiently officiated as Master of Ceremonies. Catering for the Supper was left ip the capable hands of Miss E. Rickit, Mesdames Story and Rameka, and many complimentary remarks j were passed regarding the magnifi|cent spread served. The food was I in abundance and ranged from Savouries and Sandwiches to trifles and jellies. fAt the conclusion of the function Superintendant, M. H. Clarke, expressed appreciation, on behalf of the Taupo Fire Brigade, of the fine effort made by the caterers, the social committee and heartily thanked all for their attendance; Amongst the colourful and smart gowns worn by the ladies the following were noticed: — Mrs M. Clarke, floral patterned on white ground French silk, with bolero. Mrs S. R. Crowther, moire taffeta blouse with peplum on cyclamen — - worn with black .taffeta skirt. Mrs C. Baker, gold taffeta gown worn with black silk, velvet bolero. Mrs B. Morris (junior), embossed Ivory damask — worn with scarlet spray. Mrs I. Fox, flpral Jersey-«ilk with cyclamen shades predominating. Mrs H. Waterhouse, iee blue figured organdie. Mrs L. Sharp, eau-de-nil frock. Mrs R. Booth, rose pink woollen Georgette, Mrs Rolband!, ddve fgrey gjown trimmed with bugle beads. IMrs T. Kent, cinnamon French slipper satin figured black fleur-de-lys. Mrs C. O'Brieii, deep peach embossed satin blouse worn with black satin skirt. Mrs A. Kennedy, white organdy blouse floral Jersey silk skirt. Miss Sophe Hemotata, ecru lace gown worn over jade green slip. Mrs A. Lewis, salmon pink hailstone net over satin. IMiss M. Baggs, white organdie. Mrs L. Ngamotu, lemon Jersey silk. iMrs H. W. Thompson, black silk velvet with carmine spray. Mrs H. Hurst, gunmetal grey slipper satin, scarlet spray. MTs Straiton, blue -hailstone net over teal taffeta. Mrs A. Wong, scarlet moire taffeta gown with matching jacket. Mrs J. O'Toole, « figured parehment satin — predominating shades of cyclamen. Mrs G. Jones, spring green organza figured with white. Miss Joy Smith, charming gown of maize georgette. Mrs C. Marlowe, midnight blue. matt crepe with sequin encrusted bodice. IMrs R., Casson, pastel blue embossed georgette. Mrs^ M. Baggs, sky fclue blouse with inset lace yoke, fully flared black taffeta skirt. Miss B. Walters, autumn toned frock. Mrs E. U. Smith, black julienne crepe worn with pearls. Miss Y Sharp, black and white figured marocaine. iMrs Prole, black taffeta with sqquin trimmed neckline. Miss M. Hurst, multi coloured printed silk. Miss J . Bennef,, pastel mauve faille. Miss Eva Hurst, powder blue lace jacket, black taffeta skirt. Miss Sutherland, white; lace bodice with white French crepe skirt. Mrs Bergren, cyclamen needlepqint velvet. Miss A. Mrs A. McLean. black lace over black moire taffeta. Miss M. Vedder, embroiderie anglaise gown with white nylon slip. Mrs Barr, brown and white checked frock. Mrs S. Grey, white nylon blouse, red plaid taffeta skirt. Mrs A. Hall, apple green hailstone muslin and taffeta. IMiss J. Thompson, smoky mauve waffle nylon. Mrs E. H. Rowlands, blush rose taffeta. Mrs B. ^Sefton, silver brocaded fuschia bodice — deep fuschia moire taffeta skirt. • IMiss iM. Rameka, lemon lace bodice with full nylon net skirt worn over lemon nylon. Mrs K.
