LOCAL WORKS AND BOARD POLICY
In the correspondence columns of ■■TETE TIMES last week 'there was published a letter from "Plannel^,, in which the writer criticised the policy of the Taupo Town Board in delegating to the 'Chairman of the Works Committee (Mr J. Story) the duties of superintending the Board's loeal works instead of appointing a duly qualified engineer. He pointed out that the saving eifected by Mr Story 's public spirited action in taking over those duties in a voluhtary eapacity, without remuneration, was in effect short-sighted policy and did not take into account the need for long-teitm planhing in a rapidly growing community such as Taupo. •" " ' "'M Asked if he would eare to comment on "PlannerV' letter, Mr §tory said that he was disinclined to became involved in an argument with a coirespondent who did not disclose his identity.
