MAJESTIC THEATRE
War, Buccaneers And Wild West Special interest attaches to the feature film to be presentecl at the MJjestic Theatre in Taupo this (Wednesday) evening. This is the screen version of Eric Linklater's story "Private Angelo," with Geoffrey Tearle, Maria Denis and Peter Ustinov in the leading roles. The story (for adults), is of the not-so-heroic adventures of a young Italian Soldier thrown into the dangers of fighting dead against his will and spirit. This character is skilfully portrayed by Peter Ustinov, who also is associated with the production of the film under the auspices of Associated British Pilgrim Pictures. Geoffrey Tearle plays Count Piccologrando, a picturesque relic of an aristocratic era now faded, while Maria Denis plays Lucrezia, engaged to Private Angelo, but averse to marriage until after the war, and he has proved himself worthy. For Friday there is offered a double programme (for general exhibition), "The Wolf Hunters" (a Monogram Production), with Jan Clayton for glamour and action in the leading role, and Kirby Grant, cast as a rising actor, playing apposite. The companion feature is "Montana," a Western thriller, as its name suggests, with Errol Flynn, and described as "robust he-man fare with eonsiderable feminine appeal." Buccaneering in thc bad old days suppiies the seting for the Saturday feature "Fortunes of Capta^n Blood," based on Raphel Sabatini's famous swashbuckl-ing romance. Louis Haywards with Patricia Medina and George Macready, plays the leading role of the pirate chief in this thrilling Columbia picture filmed for universal exhibition.
