FAREWELL GATHERING
At a social gathering at the Ministry of Works camp on Tuesday, August 5, the employees and staff of the Department gathered to bid farewell to Mr J. N. Turnbull, the Engineer at the Wairakei Geo-ther-mal Project, who is leaving shortly to take up duties at the Hydro-De-sign office in Wellington. Several items were given by a number of the workmen, including several spirited hakas by the Maori members. Suitable refreshments were served. Mr McGreevy spoke on behalf of the workmen and expressed their regret at losing a popular engineer and friend. He then presented Mr Turnbull with a well-filled envelope. Other speakers who also expressed their regret at losing Mr Turnbull and Who wished their guest and his- wife every success in their future life, included Messrs. McLellan, Culmer, Gibbons, McMillan. Wall, Parata, Bailey, Gale and Murpfcy. Mr Turnbull in replying stated how sorry he was to be leaving a good body of men and friends, and thanked the men for their much appreciated gift. THe singing of "Now is the Hour" concluded a very enjoyable evening. Jk sfc jfc
