TO X-RAY TAUPO CHILDREN
Mobile Unit Made Available The chairman of the Taupo Town IJoard, Mr J. Story, as informed the Tirnes that through the good offices of Mr J. D. Andrews, Taupo's representative on the Waikato Hospital Board, arrangements have been made for a Mobile X-Ray Unit to visit Taupo at an early date — if possibl*3 before the commencement of the coming school hoiidays-— to examine the school children. According to present arrangements eards will be distributed to the children for patents and guardians to sign in token of their willingness to have their children examined. The test itself is quite simple, each child being X-rayed without undressing in a.ny way. The successive "shots," as the children are put through in seriation, are recorded on a continuous length of film, and in prints later. partively short space of time. The problem associated with the carrying out of these tests is the supply of power for the apparatus. There being rto public electricity supply in Taupo, recourse has been made to a private power plant of adequate voltages. This has been generously lent, gratis, for the purpose by Mr Don McLeod, of Tamamutu Street. At the time of writing it is not possible to state the date of the test, but as soon as further details arfe available, notice will be given, ' X.
