Following upon the success which attended the experimental steam b^re at the Spa Hotel, Messrs Sinclair & Yates, well drillers, have just completed driliing operations for two additional steam bores. The first drill was put down to 278 feet as compared with the 150 odd feet of the first bore, with the idea of getting greater pi'essure. This expectation was realised and the bore blew off last week with a roar that could be heard for miles. The second bore was expected to be'completed on Monday last. * * * The establishment next month of a weekly agency of the Public Trust Office in Taupo is advertised in today's issue, and this fact adds interest to the annual report of f is useful Government crgan'sation which has recently been published. The report states that the Public Trustee is represented by brsnches, agencies and part time offices in 1C3 centres tbroughout New Zealand, and the extension to Taupo will bring the total centres cateYed fo-% at least, t« J04. The new office will come under the ccntrol of the D'strict Manager at Rotorua, Mr E. Millar. * * * The Vacuum Oil Company will be screening a talkie programme of films relating to the operations of the Oil Inclustry, at Rickit's Hall this evening. These films depict various sides, of the inductry, including the senrch for oil, driliing ?nd refining. Th© programme also includes special featurettes, newsreels, etc.
