PUBLIC OPINION
"A.W.K." — The public meeting con~ vened last month to settle once and for all the question of the Taupo War Merporial decided by a large majority to adhere to the original proposal of a Memorial Hall and R.S.A. Clubrooms. There is no point in reopening the controversy. Plans and other details mentioned in your letter will be publicised when available. As to your reference to the need for adequate ablutionary amenities, we are entirely in accord with you, but that is a different proposition from the Memorial Hall, and it has its proper place — and financial provision — on the works programme of the Town Board. When the plans and specifications for the new bath house are available for description in our columns, criticism of the kind you have raised will be quite in order. Your suggestion that the new baths should be dedicated to the memory of the Armed Constabulcry who constituted the A.C. Baths is worthy of note and serious. consideration. — Editor.
