Arrangements are in hand for specifications for the new A. C. Bath house to be submitted to the Ministry of Works, and when this formality has been completed, tenders will be called for the work. Together with the grant-in-aid of £1,000 from the Government the total cost is estimated roughly at £6,000, of which £5,000 will be loan money, raised by special order. * * * In connection with the erection of the mortuary building for Taupo, the Town Board is now awaiting a visit from the Waikato Hospital Board's architect to view the site. There are two alternative sites available, and the question to be decided is which is the more suitable. * * * Rapid progress is being made with the erection of houses for married j men of the Ministry of Works staff J on the area reserved -Just off the i Spa Road, near the river. The immediate objective is the completion of 11. houses. Ultimately there will be forty, and it is even thought that this total may be raised to 100. * * * The increasing number of small children residing in the Taupo Extension area 11 to 2 miles distant from the Taupo School has raised the question of extending the school bus service to inelude that part of .the district. Many parents have discussed this hardship for their little ones. This appears to be a matter for the School Committee to deal with in an approach to the Department. t * * * A ,.glass of "Cascade Draught Ale" was "on the House" at the Terrace Hotel on the Napier Road on Saturday last when the bars were full of people sampling this most refreshing drink which is new "to Taupo patrons. The opening day for Cascade was a great success, and arrangements are being made for full supplies of this popular beverage to be stocked at the Terrace in the future. * * * IMessrs Jack Taylor and Sons of Nukuhau, Taupo, are building two 18ft. 6 in. Cabin Day Cruisers at their sheds across the river for Mr J. Lowry, of Hastings and Mr Woods of Palmerston North. These boats are both being constructed on the sam6 lines as the Lady Jane which Messrs Taylor and Sons built and launched last year for Mr B. Gibbons.
