TAUPO GIRL GUIDES
COMMISSIONER'S COMMENTS Eighteen girls were enrolled in the Taupo Girl Guides at the recent ceremony. Two others just f ailed to make the grade. The Commissioner for the southern Waikato (Mrs I. George, of Rotorua), proved a great favourite with the girls on that occasion. Captain and Lieutenant Peart consider it very fortunate to have such an understanding superior. Commenting on the company's work, Mrs George said she was thrilled at the way the enrolment ceremony was carried out, and amazed that so much ground had been covered in the time available for * training. She almost envied Taupo, as they had nothing in Rotorua approaching the local Girl Guides company. Their diffieulty in Rotorua was the lack of senior help. At the moment they had two Guide companies without captains. Guiders were hadIv needed all over New Zealand, and she hoped that people with knowledge of gulding would come for, ward. Mrs George also expressed the hope that a "Brownie Pack,> would soon materialise, and also that the Scout Company would be reformed. The 'Commissioner added the promise of another visit to Tauj)o at an early date, and hoped then to make eontact with the adult seetion. "In closing," she said, "I would like to comment on the fact that not one girl stumbled over the guide promise and ceremony, emphasising thekeenness of all in their work." - At the meeting on Tuseday last week, six new recruits were admit, ted to the company. i (Note — In our report last week of the enrolment ceremony the name ,of the Commissioner, Mrs George, was printed as Green.,,>
