A recent wedding of special interest to Taupo residents took place at New Plymouth at the beginning of the month when Miss Mary Leslie, daughter of Mr C. R. Leslie of Laughton Street, was married to Mr Aalbert Huibert Kruit, who came to this country from Holland early in 1949. The ceremony was held at St. Mary's, New Plymouth and the vicar, Rev A. D. Hurst, officiated. The best man was Mr Hendrik Ubels, whilst Miss Valmai Pickford and Miss Helen Hubbard, all of New Plymouth were bridesmaids. Seven year old Robin Hotter was flower girl. After the wedding a delightful reception took place in the beautiful set ting of the Pukekura Park Kiosk, at which the hostess was Mrs Pickford of Huirangi, Waitara. The bride has been nursing at New Plymouth Hospital for the past 2J years, and her bridesmaids are also on the nursing staff. Her holidays have regularly been spent in Taupo with her father who is a retired hook illustrator and art director of London and Wellington, and was responsible for designing the attractive title heading to the Taupo Times. During the war years the bridegroom served in the Dutch Merchant Navy as an electrical engineer, and since emigrating to New Zealand with his firm friend Mr Ubels he has been employed by the Works Department at Trentham. It was at the latter's wedding about a year ago that Mr and Mrs Kruit first met one another, when they filled the roles of best man and bridesmaid respectively. They have decided to live in Taupo where Mr Kruit is commencing business as an electrical contraetor. , . 1 .... t. • .. ... , 'yffo i
