The local Ratepayers Association is taking active steps to effect some improvements, and on their own initiative have cleaned up the foreshore, with the aid of a bull dozer obtained privately. The Internal Affairs Department has been approached regarding the matin silting problem. In normal times this work could only be carried out by means of a drag, but it has been suggested that an opportunity will occur in a few months time, when the Maraetai Dartr of the Waikato Hydro-electric-ity scheme is filled up and the lake is again brought to a low level for a few days, for the required work to be carried out more quickly and effectively by means oi bull dozers i or carry-alls.
