TAUPO WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

GRANT TO ST. JOHN AMBULANCE At the monthly meeting of the Taupo Women's Institute on Wednesday last a grant of £21, being half the proceeds of the "Bring and Buy" held last March, was passed for payjnent to the St. John Ambulance Association. The vice-president, Mrs J. Taylor, presided over a good attendance of members and guests. Arrangements were made for children to be entertained in an adjoining room. During the business portion of future meetings, in order to enable more mothers to attend, members will take turns with this work. There were good entries for the competitions, which included "An article made from pine needles, M "four pieces of shortcake;" also the "Best Bloom,,, "Best Spray," and "Best Vegetable." At the next monthly meeting, which is to be held on Wednesday, June 18/ competitions will be for "A Baby Feeder,'* "An Eggless C&ke" and alsp the "Best Bloom," "Best Spray" and "Best Vegetable."
