TAUPO RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION
The monthly meeting 6f the Taupo Ratepayers' Association was held at the home of Mr Ted Pearse on May 6. The meeting was fully attended. Mr J. Birnie presided and a very enthusiastic meeting ensued. Mr Vedder's resignation from the committee was accepted, and eongratulations were extended to him upon his election to the Taupo Town Board. On the nomination of Mr J. Birnie, seconded by Mr Stevens, Mr G. Sutherland was elected to fill the vacancy. In response to the written request of the Town Board it was decided that three members of the Ratepayers' Association Committee and the Secretary be delegates at the next Town Board meeting to discuss contenjtious matters which have been the subjects of eorrespondence. It was decided that a request be made to the Town Clerk to display on the Publie Notice Board any postponement or cancellation of the regular meeting of the Town Board, for the benefit of persons wishing to attend ihe meetings. Children's Playground. Messrs E.« Pearse, E. Yates and E. Sinclair represented the Ratepayers' Association at a meeting with the Businessmen's Association to discuss a suitable site for a children's playground. The matter has been taken up with the Town Board, and it is hoped that a children's playground wilj be fully organised bet'ore the holiday season. New Membecrs. i It was noted that several new members have joined the association during the past few weeks. After a general discussion on var*ous saib^cts appertaining )to local affairs, Mr Birnie declared the meeting closed, with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Ted Pearse for the generous use of his home for the committee meeting.
