SAWDUST AND MILL RUBBISH

iSir, — A noisome rumour persists around Taupo that the powers that be are seriously considering the possibility of our famous rubbish tip being used as a handy dumping ground for the spoil (slabs, sawdust etc.,) of various timber mills in the district. Not only would the spoil be dumped there, but horror of horrors, a constant fire would be burning! Surely this rumour has no foundation! Surely, no Town Board would sanction such a menace within the Town Area. I ean only say, citi— zen, do you remember the terrifying fires in 1946? — I am, etc.,

"CRY HAVOC/'

CNote: — As previously reported ("Times*' Apri) 23), the Taupo To;;n Board considered at its last meeting a request from the Sawmiller's Association that a convenient site be set apart for the dumping of sawdust from the mills. It was then decided to take up the question with. the Forest Serviee and the Lands Development and Crown Lands authorities to determine a suitable area. This question presumably will be advanced a further stage at the next meeting of the Town Board. — Editor.]
