SHOOTING SEASON IN TAUPO
"Best Prospects For Years" According to the game ranger for Taupo, Mr A. G. Hall, the shooting season which opened on May 1st holds "the best prospects for years." There is no lack of wild fowl, quail especially being very plentiful. Many guns have been out, and good bags are reported. The opening of the season has attracted many visitors from outside districts. One of these, observed getting into his car armed for the fray, presented a spectacle that recalled a Western American film. He was garbed like a frontiersman, and round his fairly ample middle was a belt bristling with cartridges. He was unmistakably out for blood, and determined to redeem the disappointment of the Arst week of his fortnight's shooting vacation, when his bag consisted of one pheasant and a few quail.
