Two New Tractors for Pull-Type Implements
Two new tractors, the Cropmaster Diesel "50" and the Trackmaster "50" were recently displayed in London. Designed for pull-type implements, both are six-cylinder j machines and are within the five- | plough class. The tractors are primarily intended for overseas markets. The engine employed in both is a development of the Dayid Brown four-cylinder Diesel version introdticed in 1950 as an alternative to the petrol and vapourising oil engineg iir the same series. Using direct injection, the new six~ cyliiider power unit develops 50 British horse-power at the governed speed of 1,800 revolutions per minute giving a belt horse-power of 42.5* Speed is maintained by a pneumatic govenor and a decompressor is fitted to assist starting in cold weather, To fulfill requirements of overseas markets, the wheeled "50" is provided with extended axle shafts, which allow of the fitting of twin rear wheels. The /foot operated brakes can be operated independently to help steering. ^ In addition to these machines, the firm is demonstrating four more standard machines which have aiready proved popular in Britain and in 48 countries overseas — the Cropmaster Diesel, Super Cropmaster, Cropmaster 6S (Paraffin engine) and Trackmaster. Other new implements made by the firm include a potato spinner and a three-furrow plough.
