Now that the lake fishing seasorr is over anglers are concerntrating on the river and both the Bridge Lodige and Taylor's Lodge are full. The Tongariro Bridge still takes its toll of accidents. Last Monday a car failed to negotiate the bend on the bridge and cras'hed into the railing. One passenger, an elderly lady received a bad cut on the head and the driver minor injuries. Those who have laid aside the rod for the year are busy making last minute preparations for the opening of the shooting season which holds every promise of being good. Large numbers of grey duck and blaek swan have been seen awdng with some Mallard and Paradise duck. Deer stalkers have been very fortunate recently and some very good heads have been taken.
