v Driver's Second Lapse A sitting of the Taupo Police Court was held on Tuesday last, when Donald Clarke Nielson, aged 26, single, appeared before Messrs V. T. Fail and W. H. Kent, Justices, on charges of converting a truck and being intoxicated while in charge of a truck. He pleaded guilty. Constable J. Rowlands, for the prosecution, stated that the accused was discovered bent over the steering wheel in an intoxicated condition, iif a state of stupor, on the Lake front road at 6f.3Q p.m. on the evening of Monday, April 28th. On a previous conviction for a similat offence, Nielson had been sentenced to three months, imprisonment with hard labour and six months R.D., the term ending four weeks ago. The Court took a serious view of the accused's latest offences, and sentenced him to a term of 6 months' hard labour and a period of 12 months' R.D. reformative treatment and his driving licence was cancelled for two years. On the charge of conversion he was convicted and discharged.
