— April 4. Fine weather has been enjoyed over Easter and many holiday makers have been in the district in addition to large numbers of anglers. Road traifice has been exceptionally heavy since last Thursday and all accommodation has been fully taxed. River fishing has been poor, although some good fish have been taken over the week-end. One river is very low and clear and rain is badly needed. Fishing at the Delta has been poor also, very few fish being taken. Near Drownings. Two niore anglers have had narrow escapes from dbownihg at the Delta. The loose sand gave way under them, and they went over the edge. It is fortunate that other anglers were close at hand to reijder assistance. The danger of wading at the Delta eannot be too strongly stressed. The iparty of anglers saw a stretch of about 20 feet fall away one day recently. ☆ TURANGI SPORTS DAY. The Turangi Sjorts Club- held its annual sports meeting on Saturday, 5 inst. The day was colcl with an ! unpleasant soultherly wind which 1 adversely affected the attendance. There were fewer horse entries than in previous years owing to other fixtures being held on the same day. The chopping events proved a big attraction and good times were put up in these. ☆ j TONGARIRO ANGLERS' CLUB.

The Tongariro Anglers' Club held its annual meeting on Saturday night at the Bridge Lodge. There was a poor attendance of members. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: — President, Mr A. Spragg. Vice-presidents, Messrs J. W. Durward, G. Sanderson and H. Nicholas. Secretary and treasurer, Mr E. A. Gurney. Executive, Messrs Bridgen, Beauchamp, Jones, White and Manson. Hon. Auditor, Mr R. Beauchamp. Various matters of interest to anglers were fully discussed after the adoption of the balance sheet, which showed that the finances of the club were in a healthy condition. It was decided to press for better access to pools on the lower reaches.
