OFF TO KOREA
KAI ORA, GUNNER REID A large number of relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr G. R. Reid on Easter Saturday to foid farewell to Gunner Franklin Reid, who was home on final leave. Music was provided by Mr M. Clark tand Mrs S. Crowther, and vocal items hy the guests. A savoury supper was served, and an enjoyable evening was spent by all. Amongst the guests » assembled to wish Gunner Reid a speedy return were Mr and Mrs G. P. Reid, grandparents of the guest of honour, Mr and Mrs J. Reid (Auckland), Mr B. Garlick and Mr B. Keepa of Rotorua; Messrs David and Bill Asher of Tokaanu, Mr Elwyn Grace of Turangi, and Mrs Harwood of Napier. | A dance in honour of Gunner Franklin Reid was held in Rickit's Hall on Easter Monday night. Music was provided by Mac. Habib's orchestra, who most kindly gave their services free for the occasion. On behalf of those present Mr J. Woodward, expressing every good • wish for his future and safe return, made a presentation to Gunner Reid who made a brief speech of appreciation. Mr Woodward also thanked Mrs S. Crowther, Mrs Story and all those who had helped in the organisation of the function.
