Big Sports Day.
As advertised, Saturday next will be a big day at Turangi. The Hirangi football field will be the scene of a splendid programme of horseriding and chopping con/tests, and steer-riding contest for the Ferris and Horton Cup. One of the high lights of the programme in the chopping section is the 14-inch Turangi Chop, the first prize in which event is £75, and a 10-ginuea cup presented by Mr T. Dempsey. The horse events, twelve in number, will provide plenty of variety. Refreshments will be provided on the ground, and a dance in the evening will round off the day.
