PROSPECTS FOR TAUPO
The Drama Group of ihe Community Arts Service is planning to present the "Merchant of Veniee" as its first production of the season, and the date for Taupo will be May 12th. The plays later in the year are to be a comedy by the SLottish playwrighjt, Jiamds Bridie, "It Depends What You Mean," and towards Christmas time a play for young and old "Beauty and the Beast" which had such a renowned season in London last year. This play is the result of many eountry centres asking C.AJS. to bring a play to which the children can be taken. This Drama Group of C.A.S. is a travelling company of thirteen full-time pr'ofessional actors and actresses which spends most of each year visiting eountry places in the North Island. The Taupo branch has already a big membership and it is only by this assured support that it is able to finance many of the plays and concerts that are offering. The branch is very happy to enrol new members at a subscription of 5/- for the year, and this gives pnohity seating acc omm-.iiotion. Anv vie mterested could apply to the Hon. Sec. Miss Hoby, Huia Street, or to Mis Cohen at the Book Club. Tickets and booking for each performance will be in the hands of Miss Cohen at the Book Club and Mr Anchor at his shop. They are kindly doing this for the Taupo Branch of C.A.S. Furfher announcement in connection with the visit of the C.A.S. in Taupo will be published in later editions.
