TAUPO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

The Taupo Horticultural Society has rrot been inactive in furthering the public amenities of Taupo. During the 1950 season members planted 47 silver birch trees along the Lake front. The following season the triangle opposite Mr Fraser's D-rug Store was planted and the Society is looking forward to fresh activities in co-operation with the Town Board on "adopted" areas. The Society to d'ate has held five shows, all of them a success, financially as well as regards the displays. The membership now is just under 200, and there is a strong committee of 18. Present office-bearers are: — Patron, Dr Thomas; Past-President, | Mr L. Stephenson; Presidejit, Mr J. D. Swan; Vice-President, Mr Colbeck; Secretary-Treasurer, Mr Rex Beale; Hon. Secretary, Mrs Peart.-
