THE R. S. A. HALL
iSir, — Would it be possible to find out through your columns what is being done in respect of the Taupo R.S.A. Memorial Club Rooms? It is now well over two years since the public and visitors donated £4,300, in round figures for the purpose of providing us old, and second world war soldiers a very urgently needed club room. With such a large sum in Hand together with a free gift of two sections from the McAuley family of Taupo, surely there is something lacMng in the organisation, that even a start has not been made. I think it only right, that the public, and returned soldiers be given some explanation, (and I suggest it would have to be a good one) for this extraordinary delay. — I am etc.,
A. H.
REID,
10/615. [Note: The question raised by our correspondent was referred to the chairman of the Taupo Town Board (Mr J. Story), who stated that when tenders were called for the R-S.A. hall, the only one received was much too high. Efforts were being made to negotiate a contract at a more reasonable figure. — Editor.]
