TAUPO BUSINESSMEN'S ASSOCIATION
The monthly meeting of the above association was held on March 11th, Mr W. I. Stevens presiding. It was reported that a very successful meeting of confectioners, representing some 13 different individual businesses, was held on March 4, and complete agreement was reached regarding ihe conformity of prices and other domestic issues confronting their particular branch of the trade. It was also reported that negotiations were being entered into with the authorities governing the retailing of eggs in the Taupo area. It was pointed out that an anomaly existed whereby eggs which were procurable from one particular district were retailed under the rules gov- * erned by another district. The sub-committee set up to drive for subscriptions advised that they were circularising prospective members who have not already joined the association, pointing out the activifcies of the association to date and asking them to come forward and become financial as soon as possible in ordei to help in the' good work that lay ahead. A general meeting is being called for the fourth week in April and amongst other business will be the confirmation of rules being drawn up to govern the sub-committee dealing with Business Credit Protection. It was arranged for a representafion to meet the Ratepayets' Association with a view to working together on a certain proposition for securing a children's recreation area and to discuss ways and means of entertaining visitors to Taupo during the summer hcliday period.
