TWO DESERVING APPEALS
The Taupo RJS.A. have received two appeals for funds which are of interest to ex-.servicemen of both World Wars. The first is for the Field Marshal Lord Birdwood Memorial Fund. This Memorial is to take the form of endowed foedrooms in the new wing to be added to the Victory (ex-services) Club, London. The appeal is being directed to all those who were under his command during the late Field MarshaPs service. The second appeal is for establishing of a "Boys Town" in Modena, Italy. The facilities are to be available for boys from the surrounding district, with preference for the large numbers who are orphans of Italians who lost their lives serving the Allied cause or assisting our eountrynien as partisans or helping prisoners to escape. Field Marshal Alexander was asked to support this scheme. He sent Major Peter Lewis, a well-known escaper, to examine it and report on its value and bona fides. Major Lewis reported extremely favourably, as did '• other visitors. It has been decided to open lists for these two appeals donations can be forwarded to the. secretary, R.S.A. and contributions will be acknowledged through these columns. Lord Birwoodi Memorial Fund.
