With the object of making schoolchildren in the forest areas more fire-conscious, the "Keep New Zealand Green'* campaign has been intensified. It is known that a number of small fires, which fortunately were dealt with in time, were startthis season by children. Besides talks by head teachers and the djistribution of apprpriate literature prepared by the New Zealand Forest Service, an essay contest was organised among district schools. The subject is "How I can Best Prevent Forest Fires.** entries closed today and judgihg will be carried out by Mr F. E. Hutchinson, assistant forest and milling superintendent of New Zealand Forest Products Ltd., Kinleith, Mr R. B. Moorhouse, forestry administrator, and Mr Clive Tidmarsh, public relations officer for the company, wich is pro vidmg cash prizes for the first three best essays.
