TELEVISION OUTSIDE

. . . A

combined aerial, transmitter and power vehicle used for outside broadcasts of B.B.C. television. This strange looking vehicle is used for transmitting television pictures by radio from places where an ordinary cable link is not available. The aerial is raised to a hundred feet above the ground by the means of the extensible ladder, which is mounted on a turntable and can be rotated and tilted towards the receiving station by remote control from inside the van. This van is also equipped with a very high frequency transmitter, with a power of 340 watts.
