Tokaanu.

— February 29. Messrs L. E. Woods, B. K. Gifford and L. K. Woollams, of Tauranga, fished at the Delta during ten days recently, with visits to Kuratau and Waitahanui. They took one hundred and six, of which forty were returned owing to their poor condition, but many good fish were taken. The largest fish were two of eight pounds, taken by Mr Gifford, one at the Delta and one at Waitahanui. Mr Woods took at the Delta one fish of seven and a quarter pounds and one of seven pounds. Two fish marked by the Fisheries officers during the winter were taken, one in the Hut Pool and one at the Kuratau. The big ones don't always get away. Joseph Habib caught an eleven pound brown trout at the week-end in the vicinity of the Houseboat. The fish was a jack, and was in splendid condition. It was taken trolling which is a rare occurrence in the case of brown trout in the lake.
