As reported in the Times recently, dry steam was obtained from a bore put down in the grounds of the Spa Hotel in Taupo. The possibility of harnessing this to a power and lighting plant was successfully demonstrated by connecting the steam pressure from the bore with a generator attached to an ancient engine, as shown in the above illustration.
