A VISITOR FROM MALAYA
Miss Meenah, who comes from Malaya, is at present visiting in Taupo, prior to taking a Nurses' Post Graduate Course in Wellington. So that methods in Malaya may be compared with those in New Zealand, Miss Meenah has spent a few days observing district work in Taupo. In Malaya, the hospital administration and training is influenced by England and by Australian methods. Miss Meenah will study and^ specialize in public health nursing while in New Zealand and in the completion of the course in Wellington will return to Malaya to take up Public Health Work there. Malaya has already an organized Public Health Nursing Service whieh is conducted on similar lines to the New Zealand iService. The care and feeding of the children is supervised from infancy until school age when a school nurse then continues with the supervision. The district nurses also supervise Maternal Welfare. A^s in New Zealand the district nurses are not expected to attend to sick children except for a few visits early in the illness. Where illness is suspeeted the aid of a doctor is solicited. The aim of the District nurse is to maintain as high a standard of living as possible in order to prevent illness. N Miss Meenah, who will shortly leave Taupo, is a guest at Onslow House. * ?
