The Turangi Garage, for many years conducted by Mr C. Bridgen, has changed hands. The new proprietors, Messrs R. H. Healey and R. Edwards, took possession on January 1. * * * * Messrs A. Coley and Son, builders, of Taupo, have just completed the building of a new modern residence along the Lake Front Road, for Mr and Mrs Arthur Grace, of Taupo, which commands a magnificent view of the Lake and mountains. The building has an area of 1330 square feet and is built externally of heart rimu and matai, as also is the floor, whilst the interior walls are of Gibralter Board and Pinex. There are three spacious bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom, wash house and office, and all conveniences. It will be lighted througout with electricity. * * * * Residents who happened to be looking in the direction of the Western Hills one evening last week were treated to an unusual and somewhat awe-inspiring spectacle. An enormous pillar of cloud reaching far up into the sky rose from behind the hills, and catching the rays of the setting sun, presented a beautiful picture. Another great cloud bank rose behind the first, and between the two, which must have been highly charged with electricity, there ensued a brilliant exchange of lighting flashes at short intervals, and lasting for sometime. It was as if the heavy artillery of two opposite armies had opened up a terrific burst of firing at short range.
