NEW QUEEN PROCLAIMED
CEREMONIAL IN TAUPO In accordance with the programme to be carried out by the New Zealand Communities throughout the Dominion, the accession of Her Royal High ness Princess Elizabeth to the Throne was officially proolaimed in Taupo on Monday. The proclamation was read by Mr J. D. Swan, DeputyJChairman of the Taupo Town Board, in the absence from the district of the Chairman, M, J. Story. The ceremonial took place in front of the Post Office, and attracted a large assemhly of the publie. A guard of honour from the Auckland Regiment was detailed from Tihoi by arrangement with the Commanding Officer. iStandards IV, V and VI from the Taupo iSchool, with the Headmaster and teaching staff, also paraded as participants. Loeal institutions were
represented by their honorary officers. As tlie current edition of the Taupo Times was then in process of going to press, it was not possible to do more at this stage than to outline the programme arranged to be carried out.
