Book Prices Rising.

The price of books is rising and aecording to a leading English publisher the average price of a novel will be 15/- to 22/6, the librarian Mr A. L. Low, told the New Plymouth Library and Taranaki Museum Committee. Mr Low said that the average .price was now 12/6 and, surprisingly, these expensive , books were easier to sell than those costing 5/- to 7/6. He thought the price of books would continue to rise for some time. Mr Low also told the committee that book repairs make up the library's largest expense aecount. More than 1,000 books were sent to the binders last year. Each book cost about 3/6 to repair.
