TAUPO FIRE BRIGADE
NEED FOR UNIFORMS * Citizens of Taupo owe it to the men of the Fire Brigade, who have volunteered their services to defend lives and property against the most serious menace the district is threatened with, to see that they are provided with adequate clothing and equipment for doing their job. Fire fighting involves heavy wear and tear on clothing, which means a personal loss which it would be unfair to expect the men to be saddled with. An ari union with £100 worth of prizes has been organised to raise funds for ihe provision of uniforms. From the sale of tickets — 1,000 books at 10/- each — it is hoped to make a profit of £400 from which to provide the necessary clothing & to have in hand a reserve for future requirements. The response from the public has not been a largie as had been anticipated, & it is hoped that a* final effort to get the balance of the tickets into circulation will have a satrsfactory result. During the period of three months these
tickets have been available some people have purchased whole books, and others have given generous donations. It is a worthy cause, and should be' heartily supported.
