DREAM COMES TRUE.
Times moves on, and at last Taupo will soon have the attraction of an up-to-date Bowling Green, thanks to the energies of a few local enthusiasts, inspired by what can be done in other places. By united efforts, something has been accomplished that will interest the many visitors who come from all parts of New Zealand and even from other countr'ies, especially, tft will appeal to , bowlers, who from time to time make Taupo their favourite holiday I resort. The seeds of a bowling green were planted in Taupo about 20 years ago, but through lack of attention and other controleable circumstances the growth was so restricted that the fruits and hard labour did not come to maturity. As time went on, a new club was formed, and the remaining 30 feet of the old green was laid down in sawdust which undei special conditions was quite successful, but adverse conditions combined to make the result very disappointing. Members were favoured for a time by having access to the Wairakei Green where many pleas'ant days were spent. Calls at Rotorua and t'he Chateau Tongariro gave Taupo bow'lers many enjoyable outings. It is hoped to have a memorable official opening after the necessary finishing touches are completed, at a date that will be convenient for all yisiting bowlers. — Contributed by Mr Pennycuik.
