GOLF TOURNAMENT
For the past four years the Taupo Golf Club has held a one-day tournament, between Christmas and New Year, while golfers from all parts of New Zealand are holiday ing in Taupo. This year seventeen clubs were represented by players from as far ;South as Invercargill while some travelled from Napier, Hastings, Rotorua and the Chateau the morning of the tournament. Some very good scores were handed in. It was very gratifying where meeting players speak of the great improvement of the course over the last twelve months. It certainly did look attractive as the players set off at 9 a.m. under ideal conditions. After an enjoyable lunch provided hy the club, the ladies joined the field. By that time the course was well filled by the 80 contestants. At the close of play when all had been refreshed by many cups of tea, the president, Mr Cheal welcomed the visitors and Mr C. C. Brownie, of Wanganui, replied on their behalf. Mrs Cheal then presented the prizes to the folowing: — - iSenior gross score: I. Readman, Rotorua. Senior net score: D. Falkner, Taupo. Junior gross score: I. M. Gaul. Junior net score: D. Friedlauder, Auckland. Mens Approaching: I. W. Gault. Mens Driving: A.- Mitchell, Auckland. Ladies Approaching: M. Heillkin, Taupo.
