GETTING TOGETHER
TAUPO BUSINESSMEN In November last steps were anaugurated for the organisation of a Taupo Businessmen's Association. Provisional rules were framed and a committee set up to further the movement, the objective of which is "to promote a constructive and programme spirit among the community as a whole, and to further and protect the interests of the business people in general". Mr C. J. Vedder was chairman and Mr C. S. ;Currie Hon. Secretary. A general meeting was convened ,for December 11th. for the purpose of rotifying the draft rules, and placing the new organisation on a duly regulated voting. Mr Vedder presided over an attendance of 40. The proceedings were harmonious ^and good progress was made with the ratification and finalisfxtion of ,the provisional rules (with certain .amendment. ) There was also some discussion about changing the day of the Taupo wekly shoppisg holiday, but in the light of the point raised when differ;ent aspects of the question were presented, the matter was deferred for future study. The question of the shopping hours to ;be observed for the Christmas* ,and Kew Year weeks was also discussed and agreement reached which in the light of subsequent experience, pioved in practice to be very (satisactory. , Th officers and committee are now as follow: — , President, Mr C.
