BOWLING

INTER-CLUB BOWLING MATCH. PAEROA vTtE AROHA. Excellent weather prevailed on Saturday last when the first interclub match of the season took place at Te Aroha, when the local Club met and defeated the Paeroa Club by 107 points to 87. The visitors arrived by the mid-day express, and were met at the station by the President and several members of the local Club. Shortly after 2.30 o’clock the President (A. F. Burton, Esq.) spoke a few words of welcome to the visitors, wishing them all an enjoyable afternoon’s outing, immediately after which play commenced in real earnest. There were five rinks, and the results proved as under

Total 107 87 The President announced the result, and in so doing referred to the fact that their Paeroa friends, rather thin put in an appearance with only two or three rinks, had iucluded a number of first and second year players. He ventured the remark that the Te Aroha Club might do well to follow the example of the Paeroa bowlers, when contemplating a visit to outside Clubs.

During the afternoon visitors were entertained to afternoon tea at the Tea Kiosk, where the cup that refreshes was discussed on the cool verandah surrounding the building. Before dispersing President Burton called for three cheers for the visitors, which were heartily given. The Paeroa President (Mr W. D. Nicholas) returning the compliment.
