Fatality at Waihi

MR ROBERT STONE KILLED

Robert George Stone (son ot the late Mr Robert Stone, of Thames and brother to Mr Harry Stone), a carpenter, was working in the Waihi Co’s Union mill on Thursday taking down some fiuming with Thos. Welle, when a piece of 6 x 2 scantling fell from overhead, a distance of 20ft, striking Stone a severe blow on the head. The injured man walked to Dr Craig’s residence in company with Wells and a man named D'unstan, and from there was taken in a cab to the Hospital, where he died at 4 o’clock yesterday. The deceased has been in the employ of the company for a number of years, and is a married man with a family. He is the eldest son of the late Mr Robert Stone, who was well known at Thames as a successful shipbuilder and who passed away this year.
