It looks as if we are to have something at last in the way of compulsory military training. It would be a step in the right direction if the Government gave more encouragement to members of Defence Rifle Clubs, and allowed men—both old and young—to throw in their lot with the Bide Clubs after serving a term in the volunteer force. . The Auckland Rifle Association has issued its programme for the 36th annual meeting to be held on Penrose rifle range on January Ist and 3rd, 1910. There are nine matches in all, with an increase of prize money on that offered last year.
