London, November 11. Fmdbbiok Hugh Jackson (Director of the Bank of England) in a Presidential address to the Institute of Bankers, emphasised the fact that the country’s currency now consists of cheques. He was glad to think that bankers recognised that stronger reserves of gold is desirable to protect this currency and added that those supplying the currency should provide gold reserves.
