Japanese Prince Assassinated.

London, October 26. Reuter’s Agency reports that Prince Ito, the Japanese Resident-General in Korea, has been assassinated et Harbin, Manchuria, by a Korean. Prince Ito was on a visit to Manchuria with a view to effecting a more complete understanding with China, regarding Manchuria, and. forestalling, if possible, the protest by the United States regarding the Manchurian agreement. Seoul, October 26.

Prince Ito was visiting Harbin to negotiate with M. Kokovstaff (Russian Minister of Finance) respecting the Manchurian Railwaysjust left the railway carriage and was walking with M. Kokovstaff and several Russian Officers past the Guard of Honour when the assassin fired several shots from be*< hind, hitting Prince Ito thrice and wounding Shohei Tanaka, Manager of the South Manchurian Railway, and Kinishi Kawawkami (Japanese Consul • General) seriously, and another official slightly. The assassin was arrested. He stated he wanted to avenge his country. _lt is believed that the assassination was the outcome of an organised plot. Three Koreans were arrested yesterday.
