MORRINSVILLE
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The flaxmill continues to work overtime to keep up with the supply of green flax. There appears to be quite an epedemic of cold going around, which do doubt will soon disappear with the advent of more settled weather.
The many friends of Mrs J. Ganley will regret to hear that she received word that her mother (Mrs Fitzpatrick of Auckland) had died suddenly on Thursday morning. Mrs Ganley left by the express for Auckland the same day. Deceased lady was apparently in good health, up to the time of her death. Several sections of land have changed hands of late at satisfactory figures. The unemployed is evidently not a serious question in this prosperous district, as an application for tenders for road works in Studholme-street called for by the Town Board, resulted in only one tender being put in, and that being considered too high, fresh tenders are being called. Messrs J. C. E. Watts was the successful tenderer for the supplies. Mrs Coutts sale of furniture, held on Friday, realised satisfactory prices.
